**Acts 17:11**
"Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so."
One thing that should motivate us about the Bereans is their diligent research of what Paul was teaching. They studied the Old Testament prophecies concerning the resurrection of Jesus. The word Berean means "well watered," and this is exactly what Paul did—he provided them with solid nourishment for their souls.
In the last days, the remnant body of believers will need to shake off religious traditions and unscriptural teachings that have watered down the gospel and quenched the Holy Spirit. Did the Holy Spirit still move despite these issues in the church? Absolutely. God continued to work through many ministers and missionaries, even when some teachings were unclear in scripture. God moved through healings, the building of churches worldwide, and more.
However, true discipleship has often been neglected, turning into a marketing strategy and money-making venture rather than fulfilling Jesus' command to "Go and make disciples." Many good things have been overlooked because we haven't had the time to address them. This must change. There are those in the body of Christ who, like the Bereans, will fight to bring sound doctrine and purity back to the church.
Sometimes, we accept anything preached or taught without scrutiny. I've heard ministers say, "We can agree to disagree," but this can be dangerous if it involves unscriptural beliefs. Let's be good Bereans and study to ensure that what is being taught, sung, or written is true.
